THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WAX- AND GOLDSMITHWORKSHOPS
We offer two distinct jewelry-making techniques: wax carving and goldsmithing**. Both jewellery workshops are hosted in Amsterdam-Noord.

**We use the term silversmith because we mostly work with silver. The correct term for the craft is goldsmith.

WAX CARVING (lost wax casting) involves shaping a piece of wax into a desired design. This allows for intricate and organic forms that would be difficult to achieve by hand with metal. This method is ideal for creating detailed, custom shapes with more creative freedom.
After the workshop, the pieces are transformed into sterling silver (or gold on request) using the lost wax casting method.

GOLDMITHING is the art of directly shaping and forming metal, such as gold or silver, using tools like hammers, saws, and files. This traditional approach focuses on hands-on manipulation, precision, and craftsmanship, allowing you to create pieces with a sense of immediacy and control.

Both techniques provide a unique experience of jewelry creation, whether you prefer the flexibility of wax carving or the tactile engagement of working directly with precious metals.
