This 5-week course is for anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of silversmithing and leave with the key skills and techniques to make jewellery on their own.

**Price includes 10 grams of brass throughout the course.
The price excludes material costs:
Brass (€2 / gram*) you’ll use to practice in the first weeks and the silver (€7 / gram*) for your final pieces.
*The silver and brass price can change due to fluctuation.
- The first phase focuses on the key techniques of sawing, filing, sanding and soldering. During the class you will work on various assignments to practice the technique
- In the second phase, you’ll design and create your own piece, incorporating the techniques you’ve learned along with additional techniques to bring your design to life.
Throughout the course, there is space to explore your own ideas and design. You’ll create:
- in the first phase: hand sawn pendant or charm and ring (week 1,2,3)
- in the second phase: fully self designed pieces (week 4,5)
- Think of: earrings, bracelets, rings, pendants, cufflinks, brooch pins, earcuffs

Naroush is an Amsterdam based artist and jeweller who has been working in the industry for the past 6 years, honing his skills at both the bench and the design table. He currently works as a freelance designer and artist, exploring the relationship between our bodies, materials, and ideas.
Naroush loves sharing his way of working with anyone eager to learn. He believes there is no single right way to create, and that the best way to learn is through hands-on experience. Together with the team at STUDIO eF7, he developed this in-depth 5-week course to help participants explore the nitty-gritty of this wonderful craft.
CLASS BY CLASS OVERVIEW
Week 1 Sawing
Sawing is the foundation of most jewellery pieces, it defines the shape and precision of your work.
- - Introduction to the workspace of eF7 and safety
- - Sawing basic shapes from sheet metal and wire using a jeweller’s saw.
- - Exploring different types of saw blades and their applications.
- - Drawing guidelines onto metal using a scriber.
- - Practising straight lines, curves, and angles.
- - Creating cut-out shapes by drilling starter holes with a table drill.

Week 2 Filing and sanding
Filing and sanding refines your work, it’s what turns rough shapes into clean, intentional forms.- - Understanding different files and their applications
- - Refining shapes, edges, and angles using hand files and sandpaper.
- - Filing and sanding metal using micromotor attachments.
- - Practising pressure control and hand positioning while filing.
- - Learning how to remove scratches efficiently.

Week 3 Soldering
Soldering allows you to connect elements and build more complex designs.- - Setting up and working safely at a soldering station.
- - Understanding the theoretic fundamentals of soldering.
- - Exploring soft, medium, and hard solder and their applications.
- - Practising heat control and solder flow using a jeweller’s torch.
- - Understanding the fundamentals of ring sizing.
- - Shaping metal into a ring shape using a mandrel.

Week 4 Design 1 (+ texturing)
This class focuses on developing your own design while exploring different ways to and texture metal.- - Short exploration of surface texturing using hammers, punches, rolling mills, and -micromotor attachments.
- - Understanding how surface finishing affects the final appearance of a piece.
- - Translating design ideas into wearable forms through sketching and technical planning.
- - Creating a self-designed piece using the fundamental techniques: sawing, filing, sanding and soldering.

Week 5 Design 2 (+ forming)
In this class, you will design and construct your own jewel and learn various ways to form metal.- - Short exploration forming techniques to create convex shapes.
- - Understanding the technical choices behind your design.
- - Applying sawing, filing, sanding, soldering, texturing and forming techniques independently.
- - Refining and completing your self-designed piece under supervision.
